Hi! Welcome to my page where I’ll be sharing my journey of being a first time mom. My name is Ashley, and my husband and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl in the beginning of 2023. My husband and I have been married for three years, and we just moved back to our hometown to be closer to family. I am a nurse by trade, so I am always busy- especially with a little one now! Who isn’t busy these days?!
With that said, one of the reasons I felt compelled to start this blog was that I simply felt that I needed an outlet for the experiences that we’ve had so far (and let me tell you- we have so many!) and let other moms out there know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
How many times have you heard “being a mom is HARD”? I heard that during my entire pregnancy, but no one told me the WHY behind it. I did not grow up around a lot of children younger than me or babies, so my experience and expectations for my baby were quite limited. During my pregnancy, I scoured the internet for what to expect when our baby finally got here. All I found were videos showing a newborn routine or products to use. While they were educational, I didn’t find them helpful until after the baby was here.
There are tons of videos on social media about the newborn phase. The problem with these videos is that I was still unsure of how to use some of the products shown. I wasn’t sure if they would even be helpful for our family. Also, I had no idea if those routines would ever be a reality for us. I read some parenting books, but I felt that they weren’t relatable and found them a little overwhelming.
Everyone I knew had some sort of advice, (which I welcomed with open arms) but they would follow it up with “but every baby is different”. While that is absolutely true, I was worried that I wasn’t going to know anything about how to take care of this baby when she arrived!
Along with our experiences, I will discuss some products here. I will go through how to use them, and what has worked for us. As far as routines, I will let y’all in on a little secret now: newborns don’t follow set routines! If you’re a control freak like myself, this may be a hard pill to swallow… but that’s the truth, mom.
It’s important to remember that every baby IS different. However, I hope this can be a place for reference for other moms who are learning their babies just like I am. I will always be honest about my feelings here. I want this to be a place where we can learn together. Feel free to comment with your experiences and questions! Also, if you’re a mom that has multiple children, lots of experience, or advice, please stick around and share your words of wisdom!
